An international heroin trafficker linked to Thailand’s black market smack trade was taken down while gambling at Crown Casino.

Nicholas ‘Nic’ Procter, 38, pleaded guilty in the County Court on Monday to importing a marketable quantity of heroin.

Procter wheeled and dealed in the heroin game while in Melbourne between July 31 and August 18 last year.

The court heard police pounced on Procter while he played pokies at Crown Casino on August 19.

Investigators arrested Procter with heroin in his possession before taking the Western Australian off for questioning.

Police also seized and analysed Procter’s phone which revealed further evidence of the drug dealer’s heroin racket.

Messages indicated a “parcel” had been posted to Western Australia on August 14, the court was told.

Victoria Police contacted Home Affairs which confirmed the parcel was en route from Thailand.

Australian Border Force seized the package in Perth which contained 350 grams of heroin concealed in toy robots and flasks.

Cops also detected multiple encrypted messages between Procter and Signal users ‘Plug’ and ‘Mc’.

“Hey it’s Procter … this is my new number,” Procter wrote.

“I’m still waiting on the boys to send me the number of who to give the drop,” Plug replied.

“Tell your friend to be ready for the pick up pls … I believe the total money for pick-up should be $54500 right?

“Pls make sure the boys money is complete otherwise they will not send the thing today.”

“Brother I know for a fact that there is at least 55K to pick up … but tell them theres 55K there and will be ready in a couple of hours,” Procter wrote in a later message.

Procter then confirmed a person named ‘Megan’ was on their way to pick up the heroin buy money.

“(Megan) is heading there now to pick up the money …,” Procter wrote.

“The 54500 will be paid tonight.”

Plug gave Procter a drug connect named ‘Bobby’ and instructions the pair were to show each other a secret token which was an image of a $5 note.

The court heard racket players only did business with each other if they showed the secret token.

“The 5 bucks is the token, pls make sure you tell Megan to request this 5 bucks from bobby and she must take the picture of video of the 5 bucks from Bobby,” Plug wrote.

Megan aka Mc complained to Procter about the planned money drop.

“Procter also tell him why I have to take all the risk driving with all that money and he is a f--king male … I said half way …

“Now he can get f--ked I’m not taking all the risk for f--k all … they going to pay for me lawyers and take care of my family if something went wrong?”

“All right chill … I’m gonna send someone in an uber with it,” Procter responded.

Plug, who confirmed the “parcel has left Thai and is on the way”, sent Procter the Australia Post tracking information.

“The Thai boys said it is 350g inside,” Plug wrote.

The racket went up in smoke after Procter’s arrest.

Procter told police he was a smack addict.

“I dunno (how much I spend on heroin),” Procter said.

“I’ve just got … a lot of mates that sell it so I just … just go with them, you know … I’m using … using heaps, you know.”

The defence submitted Procter, who has priors for drug possession and fraud, had some “very dangerous friends”.

Procter was also “gambling heavily” in the weeks before his arrest, the court was told.

Procter, who was supported by family, grew up in Western Australia and worked as a carpenter.

The prosecution submitted Procter was “motivated by profit”.

Judge Michael Cahill said Procter was the “principal” in the drug racket.

Procter, who appeared via videolink from Fulham Correctional, will be sentenced at a later date.
