A bakery on St. Kilda’s bustling Fitzroy St has shut down for two weeks after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.
Management of the Rye and Dough bakery posted details of the confirmed case and announced the store’s temporary closure on social media late on Monday, August 3.
The store will undergo a deep clean and management plan to re-open it on August 18, with additional health and safety measures in place.
“On Sunday 2nd August, Rye and Dough was notified of a confirmed case of Covid 19 in our workplace,” the statement read.
“We have made the decision to enact our positive COVID test procedure and therefore we will be closing our doors for 14 days, as well as actioning a deep clean.
“All staff who have fit the criteria of close contact are now serving a 14-day quarantine period and will be released as per instructed from the DHHS.
“We believe this to be the best decision for the health and safety of our staff and community.”
According to DHHS data, Port Phillip had 53 active cases of the deadly virus within the municipality as Monday, up one from the 52 recorded on Sunday, August 2.
Five cases were added to its overall total, bringing its all time tally to 144 cases.
