Stonnington and Boroondara’s coronavirus case totals have increased despite signs of a drop in new cases throughout Victoria.
Department of Health and Human Services data showed three new cases of the virus, including one active case, emerged in each municipality overnight.
Stonnington’s tally stands at 235 cases, including 75 active cases, while Boroondara’s all-time total is 217 cases, with 67 active cases.
Throughout the state, there was another 278 cases and eight deaths as of Thursday, August 13.
Wyndham remains Victoria’s coronavirus hotbed, with 913 active cases and an all-time total of 1720 cases.
The number of unknown cases in Victoria has jumped to 251, with 208 of them active cases.
The State Government has imposed stage 4 restrictions in Stonnington and the rest of metropolitan Melbourne until at least September 13.
Under the restrictions, residents can only travel within a 5km radius of their home address.
There is a curfew between 8pm-5am, and residents are limited to one hour of outside exercise per day.
Only one member of each household is allowed to make one trip to the supermarket for essential items each day.
Police have strong powers to enforce directions and can issue on-the-spot fines, including up to $1652 for individuals and up to $9913 for businesses.
Seven people were fined by police on Wednesday, August 12 after they were found drinking together at Prahran Square.
Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said it was important everyone did what they could to prevent the spread of the virus, including by obeying social-distancing rules.
“We all have a role to play slowing the spread of this deadly virus,” she said.
