A cop who allegedly threw hot soup into his housemate’s face and threatened to kill him will be staying behind bars for at least another two weeks.

Christopher John Kerley is facing seven charges including threat to kill, intentionally cause injury, assault by kicking and unlawful assault.

The suspended Senior-Constable is also alleged to have stolen and illegally possessed a police-issue baton as well as commit an offence while on bail.

The 62-year-old was due to face Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court this morning, but was not brought out of custody.

Instead he had his bail application adjourned and he was remanded until next month.

At a previous court hearing police allege Mr Kerley, who was suspended from the Force in May last year, attacked his Malvern East housemate.

It is alleged Mr Kerley had drunk a bottle of wine before the January 17 incident, which had allegedly been recorded on CCTV footage.

Police say the roommate received scalding injuries in the alleged attack.

At his court hearing on January 20 he was bailed, but he has since been remanded back into custody on unknown matters.

This morning his defence lawyer said he had not been brought to court for “medical reasons” so the matter couldn’t proceed today.

A Leader request for access to the charge sheets was granted, but permission to see the summaries of the alleged incident was refused.

Mr Kerley was remanded in his absence to face Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on May 1.
