BP Bayside first of 10 stores to dish up David Jones Food offerings

David Jones’ ready-made meals and fancy food items are available for people filling up their cars at a Brighton petrol station, and another five are set to open around Melbourne this year. Here’s what you can pick up while filling up.

Gourmet pre-packaged meals are now being dished up at a Brighton petrol station.

As part of a deal between oil and gas giant BP and David Jones, shoppers will be able to pick up a free-range roast chicken or baked treat when they fill up their tank.

BP Bayside, on the corner of Nepean Highway and North Rd in Brighton East, is the first of 10 collaborations between the stores which is aimed at delivering fresh, high-quality food products to people on the go.

More than 300 products are on offer at the Bayside store, including ready-to-eat and take home meals, confectionery, dairy goods and long-life products.

BP Bayside is open 24 hours and has been carefully designed to make the shopping experience as seamless as possible for customers and includes self-serve check-outs.

Five other stores are set to open in Ringwood, Glen Waverley, Brighton, Clarendon and Greensborough between December this year and March 2020.

Five sites in Sydney have been earmarked for openings from February to April 2020.

BP Australia vice president sales and marketing Brooke Miller said both BP and David Jones aimed to deliver a best-in-class, high-quality convenience offers.

“The traditional service station offer of today will not fulfil the retail customer needs of tomorrow,” Ms Miller said.

David Jones food managing director Pieter de Wet said consumer behaviour was changing and demand for fresh food options continued to grow.

“Customers expect convenience and quality to go hand-in-hand, and our collaboration with BP enables us to share the David Jones Food offering with more customers than ever before,” he said.

“This product range combines innovation with freshness and taste to deliver an offering that is both convenient and of the highest quality.”
