A 4.5m-tall banner featuring more than 180 photos of students and staff today welcomed the first people back to Wesley College’s St Kilda Rd campus.
Led by student leaders, the project shows many of the things which have made the community grateful while being separated in remote learning and isolation.
“In these uncertain times, it’s easy to focus on what’s not going well, rather than looking for the silver lining in everyday moments and the joy in them,” Year 12 school captains Henry Rawling and Penelope Donnan said.
“Together with the student leaders in Years 4, 9 and 12, we have come together to devise a campaign we’re calling #wesisoinspo that asks students to share small, positive moments with us.”
The student leaders asked peers to send in photos of moments which lifted them up during isolation.
The banner features a collage of images of everything from pets in sunglasses and sunsets on the beach, to keyboard lessons and chalk drawings for neighbours.
“It’s awesome to see the different ways all the students have been using their time in isolation to learn new things,” Henry said.
Penelope added that doing it “was a nice way to come together even though we’re all separated”.
