Richmond man charged with 73 counts of criminal damage after alleged tyre slashing spree

An alleged serial tyre slasher has been charged with 73 counts of criminal damage after he allegedly slashed the tyres of dozens of vehicles, including a police car.

A Richmond man who allegedly slashed the tyres of more than 60 cars over three nights has been charged by police.

Police allege the 47-year-old man slashed 30 cars near George, Simpson and Powell Streets at 5am on November 1.

The same man allegedly kicked and smasher a glass pane in the same area later that day.

It is alleged he also damaged more than 30 cars on George St on July 12.

The Richmond man allegedly targeted a police car during a slashing spree on November 22.

He was arrested on Thursday and was bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 21.
