Shots fired outside luxury South Yarra apartment block

BLOOD on the road where shots were fired in Melbourne’s inner east will be forensically tested as detectives work to identify the culprits.
At least one man is believed to have been injured in the South Yarra incident when the firearm discharged on Claremont St early this morning.
It is believed at least two men were involved in a dispute near a red hatchback car around 4am.
Shots also hit an upstairs apartment building, shattering the window of the property’s communal lounge area on the first floor.
Neighbours have handed police CCTV footage of the incident and further vision is expected to be obtained from nearby businesses as police track the men involved.
At least three men were believed to be involved in the altercation and they were last seen fleeing in two separate cars.
The injured person did not seek medical help at the scene.

A section of the footpath on the street, surrounded by apartments and Melbourne High School, remains taped off by police.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Leading Sen-Constable Lee Thomson said: “Two men were standing at a red hatchback when it’s believed a firearm has been produced and discharged.”
The man ran off north on Claremont St before driving away in a red sedan. An unknown person drove off in the initial red hatchback.
Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating.
