David Robert Calkin allegedly shared police footage, carried a weapon without permission

A cop has been charged over allegedly leaking footage of a critical incident and carrying a weapon without permission.

A cop has been charged with leaking footage of a critical incident and carrying a weapon without permission.

David Robert Calkin was on Tuesday expected to face Ringwood Magistrates Court to answer charges of being in possession of an extendible baton without exemption or approval at Hoddles Creek in September, 2023.

According to court documents Mr Calkin was also charged with disclosing police footage of a critical incident, without reasonable excuse, and contrary to his duty as a Victoria Police employee.

The alleged leak took place at Burwood in July, 2023.

Neither Mr Calkin or his legal representative appeared before the court and the matter was adjourned until early in 2025.
