A violent stalker who told a young female real estate agent he wanted to “be inside” her, then warned her not to go to police, has vowed to be on his “best behaviour” after being released from prison on Monday.

Billy Koskinas, 34, of Hawthorn East, walked free from Port Phillip Prison on Monday after being sentenced to time served on a string of stalking and assault charges.

Koskinas told the Melbourne Magistrates Court he would live his life by the mantra “no more drugs, no more ice, no more Jim Beam”.

He had previously pleaded guilty to stalking the real estate agent by sending her a series of lewd messages on Instagram, and leaving her threatening voicemails.

He was sentenced to time served — 163 days — and a community corrections order, on the stalking charges as well as for assaulting staff at Woolworths on Burke Rd in Camberwell.

He begged Magistrate Andrew Waters for “another chance in the community”.

Koskinas told Mr Waters: “I’m going to behave, I’m going to be on my best behaviour.

“It was the wrong thing to do.

“I’ve changed.”

Koskinas has used a previous court hearing to complain about conditions in prison, including the poor quality of the food.

“I need chicken and chips, I need McDonalds. I can’t live on salads,” he said late last year.

Mr Waters warned Koskinas he could be sent back to jail if he failed to comply with the conditions of his community corrections order.

“You have got a prior for that very same type of (stalking) behaviour,” he said.

“If you send that sort of message to another person, it is almost certain you are going to be back to jail.”

Koskinas’s assault on the Woolworths staff came after they refused to open the supermarket out-of-hours to sell him cigarettes.

Mr Waters said: “You just can’t go into places and demand cigarettes, or demand anything.”

When told two of his relatives would pick him up at prison after he signed his release paperwork, Koskinas said, “yeww, sweet”.
