There was plenty of colour and fun at the Hamilton Cup this weekend.
More than 100 people got into the racing action, displaying their creative outfits and fabulous fascinators.
Gates opened at 11am, where people began to fill the seats in preparation for the first race at 1pm.
Ex-farmer Chris Marshall travelled from Bairnsdale in Gippsland to attend the Cup in the state’s southwest, with friends from Mildura also attending.
It was a great chance to reconnect with friends he hadn’t seen during the pandemic, he said.
“We do live in the lucky country called Australia, and we can enjoy our day on the green as we are having here today,” Mr Marshall said.
The cup had a variety of events for all people enjoy, including food vans, live entertainment, music, activities for children and the very special Fashions on the Field competition showcasing different categories.
Spotted in their vibrant dresses, detailed millinery and impressive suits, guests portrayed their own style and originality throughout the day, turning heads of all those who attended.
The excitement continued as the Fashions on the Field competition was announced later in the afternoon, where dozens of people entered and made the final decision tough for the judges.
Guests gathered from the racecourse to the area where the competition was held.
Eliza Icke was crowned the Best Dressed winner out of 16 entrants, where judges described her stunning detailing and contrast of the pink floral dress combined with patterns of yellow, capturing the symbolic theme of spring.
