Wangaratta, Cobram police make arrests during drug, firearm investigation
Police have seized more than $1m worth of illicit drugs as part of an ongoing investigation in the state’s northeast with five people arrested and charged

More than $1m worth of illicit drugs has been seized, along with 18 firearms, as detectives continue a long-running investigation in the state’s northeast.
Five people were arrested by Cobram and Wangaratta detectives and four firearms seized this week in what police are describing as “one of the most substantial blows on alleged drug and firearms traffickers” in the region.
Since the investigation launched in 2023, police have arrested more than 30 people, issued 298 charges, and seized more than 1kg of methylamphetamine, more than 5000 MDMA tablets, 49g of cocaine and 5kg of cannabis.
Police have also recovered 20 stolen vehicles during the investigation.
A 32-year-old Wangaratta man was arrested and charged with traffick commercial quantity of MDMA, possess traffickable quantity of firearms, and owning handgun without licence;
A Wangaratta man, 36, was arrested and charged with traffick commercial quantity of MDMA, possess traffickable quantity of firearms, and possess handgun without licence; and
A 37-year-old Cobram man was arrested and charged with traffick commercial quantity methamphetamine, traffick cocaine, traffick firearms, and conduct endangering life.
The three men, who were subject to separate search warrants, were remanded to appear at the Wangaratta Magistrates Court on August 7.
Police also arrested a 33-year-old Wangaratta woman for alleged drug trafficking and she was bailed to appear at Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court on September 1.
A 23-year-old Cobram woman was charged with traffick drugs, possess a taser, and possess imitation firearm, and bailed to appear at Cobram Magistrates’ Court on August 19.
