Hume Freeway closed at Tallarook after vehicle crash

A person who got out of their broken-down vehicle on the Hume Freeway near Tallarook has been hit by a passing car.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers believed a car crashed into a broken-down vehicle on the freeway, hitting the driver who was standing nearby about 8am.
“The driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” she said.
The spokeswoman said the owner of the broken-down vehicle was flown to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“No one else was injured,” she said.
“An investigation into the circumstances is underway.”
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman confirmed one person had been flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, while another was taken by road.
VicTraffic reported the northbound lanes were closed with traffic to detour through Tallarook via Upper Goulburn Rd and return to the freeway via Main Rd.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and to be mindful of local traffic.
VicEmergency reported two emergency services vehicles were on scene for a road trap rescue at 8.30am.
