Two men arrested over $1.25m Eildon jewellery heist

Police have arrested two men over the alleged theft of “rare” jewellery from an Eildon home. Find out the details.

Police have made two arrests as apart of an ongoing investigation into the alleged theft “rare” jewellery.

A 26-year-old Thornton man and a 32-year-old Eildon man were arrested on March 3 at 6.30am on the alleged theft of more than $1.25m worth of jewellery.

The arrests came as police officers and crime investigators from five branches executed search warrants across Eildon and Thornton.

A police spokesperson said police had “seized a firearm and a quantity of cannabis” from the search warrants.

The items of jewellery were stolen from a residential in Eildon on December 17 between 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

The rare items of jewellery include gold and diamonds.

The 32-year-old Eildon man has since been released waiting to be questioned further and the 26-year-old Thorton man is assisting police with further inquiries.

The whereabouts of the stolen jewellery are currently unknown and police are still continuing their investigation.
