A motorist has died after their car crashed into a tree in the state’s north.
Police were called to the scene on Bourchiers Rd near Old Coach Rd at Strathmerton just after 1pm on Tuesday after a resident alerted emergency services after seeing smoke in the vicinity of the crash.
“Sadly it appears the yet to be identified driver died at the scene following a single vehicle crash into a tree,” a police spokesperson said.
The crash is believed to have happened between 10.30am and 11am and police are seeking witnesses.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
It brings the road death toll to 210, compared to 183 lives lost in September last year.
