Shepparton’s Jarrid Horton Lingard charged with dangerous driving causing death
A Shepparton man’s alleged dangerous driving caused him to crash into a power pole, killing his passenger.

A Shepparton man has been accused of dangerous and careless driving after he ploughed into a power pole, killing his passenger.
Jarrid Horton Lingard, 53, fronted the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on November 12 for a committal mention.
Mr Lingard was charged by Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives earlier this year after he allegedly caused a fatal crash at Shepparton East on May 20, 2023.
It is alleged Mr Lingard drove dangerously and carelessly on Channel Rd, before he crashed into a power pole.
Mr Lingard’s passenger, a 49-year-old man, was taken to Goulburn Valley Health but later died from his injuries.
Mr Lingard suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.
He has also been charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, fraudulently using an identifying number and driving a vehicle that was illegally modified from its original condition.
Mr Lingard will next face court on February 19.
