What to do if you think a child is being abused

A Shepparton man will face court next year after he pleaded guilty to more 300 child abuse material offences.

Andrew Robertson appeared via video link from prison in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Monday in a committal mention hearing which was held over two separate times.

At the beginning of the case, prosecutors told magistrate Lance Martin they needed to amend a large number of the charges which are spread across 188 pages.

At the end of the hearing, the 48-year-old pleaded guilty to all the charges.

He will now wait until February when he will face a directions hearing in the County Court.

Charges against Robertson include use a carriage service to cause child abuse material to be transmitted, using a carriage service to harass and grooming.

Court documents reveal he is also facing charges for causing “a child to become involved in the production of child abuse material”.

The offending Robertson has been charged with occurred between March and June last year.

He often used social media for the large part of his offending.

Robertson’s defence counsel made no application for bail and he will remain in custody.
