A 31-year-old Goulburn Valley man covered in blood checked himself into hospital after allegedly being shot in the chest, a court has heard.
Adam Hasan appeared in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Friday accused of shooting Mooroopna man, Nathan Babarovich on Tuesday, causing him serious upper body injuries.
Police allege Hasan shot the 31-year-old Mr Babarovich who took himself to hospital and was later flown to Melbourne.
Details surrounding this alleged shooting have not been revealed.
Court documents said Hasan was also accused of stealing a $10,000 Ducati motorcycle from Dougal Colam the day after the shooting, on Wednesday September 8.
Hasan was arrested on Thursday afternoon and interviewed by police.
The 36-year-old Shepparton man wore a disposable face mask while guarded by two police officers as he walked into the holding box for his first filing hearing.
He was charged with a string of offences including intentionally causing serious injury, prohibited person possess firearm, prohibited person use firearm, theft of motor vehicle, prohibited person possess imitation firearm and possess cartridge ammunition.
His girlfriend, Pheona May, watched the brief court proceedings from her video link.
As Hasan was escorted back into custody she pleaded to speak with him.
“Can I please say goodbye to him?” Ms May asked the judge.
But magistrate Peter Mithen said Hasan had already been removed from the courtroom.
He will reappear at the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on November 2.
