A Goulburn Valley teenager was heading down a dark path of drugs until he shattered his leg in a horrific accident in Frankston, a court has heard.
Arcadia’s Jack Rollins, 19, pleaded guilty to drug offences in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court earlier this week.
The court heard Rollins was busted with methamphetamine and two Xanax pills when police were called to a report of a possible collision on Monterey Blvd, Frankston North in May last year.
When they arrived Rollins was being treated for his injuries with some motorbike debris on the road, but no vehicle.
Authorities attempted to speak with the then 18-year-old but he told one of the officers to “get f*****”, refusing to give up any details of the incident.
A search of Rollins’ bum bag uncovered the drugs but he was never interviewed in relation to the incident.
Lawyer Megan McKenna said her client had put himself on the right path after the incident.
Ms McKenna said her client “shattered” his femur as a result.
“(This was a) turning point for his life,” she said.
“Prior to the offending he was going down a very bad path using drugs. He was hanging out with the wrong sorts of people.”
Magistrate Peter Mithen said he was most concerned about “the abuse to the police officers”.
“The best thing you can do is stay off drugs,” he told Rollins.
Rollins was sentenced to a 12-month good behaviour bond.
