Seymour teen ‘stable’ after e-scooter hit by car

A teenage boy is in a stable condition after he was hit by a car while riding an e-scooter in the Goulburn Valley.

Push for tougher e-scooter regulations

A teenage e-scooter rider has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Oak and Wimble Streets in Seymour at about 7.10am after reports emerged of a vehicle collision.

Its understood a teenage boy was riding along the road when the incident occurred.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the driver of the car stopped at the scene while a boy was taken to hospital.

He was taken to Seymour Hospital with minor injuries and is in a stable condition, according to an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman.

Riding e-scooters on public land is illegal in Victoria except for a 12-month commercial hire trial in inner city Melbourne and Ballarat.

E-scooter and e-bike-related admissions to the state’s trauma centre increased from 24 to 49 in the previous financial year, prompting a police crack down.
