Police have identified two young men as the victims of two horror crashes earlier this week.
A Mornington Peninsula teenager was killed in the state’s alpine region on Monday afternoon.
The 18-year-old from Rosebud died after emergency services were called to Mansfield-Whitfield Rd in Tolmie, northeast of Mansfield, about 4.45pm following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
The teenager‘s incident occurred near Old Tolmie Rd.
Investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
It followed the death of another driver in the state’s southeast earlier in the afternoon after a person was killed following a horror two-car crash in Myrtlebank, northwest of Sale.
It’s understood the two vehicles, a sedan and a grey utility, collided on Myrtlebank Road near Maffra-Sale Road about 4.30pm on January 3.
The sedan burst into flames before the fire was extinguished by emergency services.
Sadly, the driver of the sedan, who is believed to be a Bairnsdale man in his 20s, died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The male driver and female passenger of the grey utility, which was towing a caravan, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the crashes, or who may have dashcam footage, is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
