A woman has been charged over a fatal crash that killed a mother of three earlier this year.

Christine Stewart, 29 and of Newtown near Ballarat, was killed at the intersection of the Murray Valley Highway and Farley Rd at Torrumbarry on January 25.

Police believe a Ford Ranger travelling on the highway crashed into the back of the Mitsubishi Triton that Ms Stewart was driving about 2pm.

Ms Stewart died at the scene and her passenger was hospitalised.

The driver of the alleged offending vehicle, a 29-year-old Patho woman, was also taken to hospital for treatment.

Ms Stewart’s mother Belinda Hackney paid tribute to her daughter at her funeral.

“Christine was the most amazing daughter, mother, and friend and also loved by many people she touched in her very short life,” Ms Hackney said.

“There are no words to tell you just how much that she meant to me.

“She had such strength and courage in life.”

Ms Stewart was a childcare worker until she started her personal training business.

According to her social media, she hoped to inspire other women to achieve their fitness goals.
