A Shepparton man accused of stabbing a woman in an early morning attack has faced court.

Nico Semisi, 44, briefly faced Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on charges including intentionally causing injury, assault, theft from motor vehicle, criminal damage, and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail on Monday.

It is alleged the woman was attacked by Semisi in a parked car shortly before 6am on Saturday morning in Mooroopna.

Police claim he is then alleged to have got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said a woman, believed to be in her 40s, was taken to Goulburn Valley Health in a stable condition with lower body injuries.

The matter will return to court next month.

Semisi made no application for bail.
