A Shepparton woman has fronted court over allegedly running over a man last year, causing his death.
Leah Sanders fronted the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing on charges of culpable driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death, after allegedly killing 32-year-old father Jesse Michel.
The alleged incident occurred on August 30, 2023.
Ms Sanders’ father Trevor appeared in court to support her, with her lawyer also noting that he is a witness in the matter.
Magistrate Allison Vaughan varied Ms Sanders’ bail to allow her to speak to her father, which was not opposed by the prosecution.
Usually, an accused person is not allowed to speak to witnesses in the prosecution case, barring the informant.
Ms Sanders will next appear in court on 14 May for a committal mention.
Ms Vaughan extended Ms Sanders’ bail until that date.
