A CFA station in the state’s north has been burgled for the second time in less than a week, leaving the volunteer brigade frustrated as members ramp up training ahead of summer.
Police are investigating the burglary at the CFA station in Kotta, near Echuca, at the weekend.
It is believed a group of offenders drove a white Holden Commodore into the front door of the buildings on Echuca-Mitiamo Rd sometime between 7pm on Sunday, August 4 and 10am on Monday, August 5.
Brigade captain Amanda Walker said three members spent the next day fixing a broken door.
“We’re putting in enough of our time as it is … Let alone fixing a door, that was another three people for another six hours.”
Ms Walker said that they do not have any CCTV but would “appreciate being sponsored” so they could get some cameras.
Ms Walker said the brigade would ramp up training over the next few months before summer.
It comes after the Traralgon South CFA brigade station was broken into on July 31, where thieves stole a vehicle before torching it.
A CFA spokesperson said “volunteer firefighters work hard to protect their communities and it is very disappointing these two incidents have occurred”.
The CFA is assisting Police with inquiries into both matters.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
