From young guns to veterans of the big stage — the Kyabram District Football League is home to many talented footballers.

While the KDL didn’t have an interleague team this season, we sat down with the 2019 co-coach Kasey Duncan to see who would make his all-star team.

Here’s who made the list.

Daniel Clarke (Avenel)

The classy defender hasn’t missed a beat since returning from Waaia in the Picola District League before the start of the season. He’s proven to be a reliable player just as he was with Merrigum in his previous KDL stint.

Jack Threlfall (Dookie United)

He has caught the eye of his peers since moving from the Goulburn Valley League. In his nine games so far this season he has been named in the best seven times.

Ben Cosgriff (Violet Town)

The general down back for the Towners. After arriving from Avondale Heights in the EDFL, Cosgriff has solidified himself as one of the best defenders in the competition.

Billy Barnes (Girgarre)

The Roos coach has shown ability to have an impact in all parts of the ground this season. He can consistently take a strong contested mark inside 50 and put the ball through the big sticks with 15 goals for the year.

Mark Nolan (Nagambie)

The experienced head is someone his teammates can always rely on to get a job done. Has been named in the best on four occasions this season.

James Milne (Murchison-Toolamba)

The man who coached the 2019 side alongside Duncan has been a strong performer right throughout the season for his club. In the last six games, Milne continually featured among the premiership contenders better players.

Zac Cerrone (Lancaster)

A man who will have a big say in how far his team will go this season. Cerrone has been named in the best on all but two occasions, kicking 27 goals for the season.

Paul Scanlon (Avenel)

A dual-league medal winner in the Morning Peninsula, Scanlon had originally been cleared from East Keilor to play with the Shane Crawford coached Ardmona where he played three games. But he has since switched to the Swans giving them even more depth in the middle of the ground.

Blake Fothergill (Nagambie)

The youngest player in Nagambie’s 2019 premiership has taken his game to another level in 2019. He’s now one of the best players in the competition. Importantly, he’s a midfielder who can do scoreboard damage having kicked multiple goals in three games this year.

Jamason Daniels (Nagambie)

The former Western Bulldogs rookie has hit the ground running since crossing from Wangaratta Rovers in the Ovens and Murray League. Daniels has been named in the best in his first three games booting five goals.

Jake Anderson (Avenel)

In his first season with the Swans, Anderson has proven to be a difficult match up for defenders. He leads his side goalkicking charts with 18 from six matches after crossing from Seymour.

Andrew Lloyd (Shepparton East)

The focal point for the Eagles forward of centre, Lloyd has kicked a goal in every game this season including a 10 against Longwood to take his season tally to 34 from eight matches.

Ashton Cashion (Murchison-Toolamba)

After missing all of May, Cashion is ready to thrust himself into the conversation as one of the competition’s top forwards. He has 17 goals from five games which only highlights his ability.

Josh Mellington (Violet Town)

It was a guarantee Mellington would kick goals when he came back to his home club because he’s done it everywhere else at senior level. On track for another ton with 74 from eight games already.

Josh Smith (Merrigum)

Second in the competition goalkicking with 39 goals from nine games including two bags of double figures. Smith’s ability to read the ball and win one-on-one contests make him a dangerous match up.

Jake Ross (Merrigum)

The man Duncan considers to be the premier big man in the competition right now and rightfully so. He has been named best afield twice, combined with other admirable displays. Has also shown the ability to get forward and kick a goal.

Tom Davies (Lancaster)

Was cleared back from the NTFL at the start of the season and hasn’t looked back since. Davies has been in scintillating form since footy’s return delivering two best on ground displays. He will be up there in the league’s best and fairest.

Daniel Harris (Rushworth)

The former North Melbourne midfielder has only played three games until this point but has made a difference when he has. Harris kicked six on debut in a massive win over Tallygaroopna.

Braydon Avola (Avenel)

Has established himself as one of his side’s most important players in the search for a premiership this season. Currently going at a goal at game as he finds himself playing further up the ground breaking the game up with his blinding leg speed.

Anthony Haysom (Nagambie)

A former best and fairest winner at club level, Haysom continues to give opposition coaches headaches on a weekly basis. The premiership winning coach will remain a key figure as the Lakers look to go back-to-back.

Patrick McMullan (Dookie United)

The mobile big man has consistently proven he can get the job done in the air and on the ground which makes him such a difficult match up. Has only been held goalless once this season.

Todd Lawrence (Avenel)

Listed as the back up ruckman in the team and it’s easy to consider why. Consistently gives his midfielders first use and can also go forward to snag a goal.

Coach – Kasey Duncan (Avenel)

A playing coach who leads by example. Has been a revelation in the forward pocket with 17 goals so far this year.
