Goulburn Valley clubs get busy in the recruiting market
Recruiting is in full swing in the Goulburn Valley Football League. Here are the latest moves from across the competition.

Goulburn Valley clubs have been busy in the off-season, making moves to move them up the ladder.
From current VFL players to former AFL stars there has been a swag of recruits across northern Victoria.

BENALLA
The Saints have added brothers Fintan and Nick Brazil to the club. Both join from Violet Town in the Kyabram and District Football League. Benalla has also added Blake Uebergang to the club. Uebergang joins after playing for Goorambat last season in the Ovens and King and kicking 11 goals in 18 games for the club last season.
ECHUCA
No signings have been announced yet from the reigning premiers.
EUROA
The grand finalists from last year have made two signings so far this off-season. Ryan Pendlebury, the younger brother of Scott, joins the club after playing for multiple clubs in the VFL. The midfielder has played for Bendigo, Casey, Port Melbourne, Collingwood and Werribee in his career. Now he is joining the Magpies. The club has also added Jake Penman who returns to the team after playing for the Port Melbourne Colts in the Southern league. Euroa, last year, also added Will Hayes who returns to the club after playing for Carlton.
KYABRAM
The Bombers have added Reuben Rode to the team after making a host of signings straight after last year’s season. Rode joins after playing for the Calder Cannons last year. He is currently training with Coburg in the VFL.
MANSFIELD
No signings have been announced yet from the Eagles.
MOOROOPNA
Former AFL player Nathan Drummond headlines the recruits for the Cats this off-season. Drummond, who played for Richmond from 2015 to 2018, will play for the club when he isn’t playing for Footscray in the VFL. He is joined by Bryce Rutherford, David Johnstone, Kris Bextream and Mackenzie Cowley who have also signed. Cowley, Bextream and Johnstone join after playing in the Murray league for Tongala and Barooga respectively. Rutherford, who played four years in the VFL, joins after playing for Berwick in the Eastern Football League and winning a best and fairest at the club.
ROCHESTER
The club might have been battling floods but it hasn’t stopped them from making handy recruits heading into the new season. Leading the recruits is Joe Atley with the former Port Adelaide player returning home to play for the Tigers. He will be joined by Jezza Mundie and Matt Kellett who have also signed. Mundie returns to the club after winning a premiership with Lockington Bamawm United in the Heathcote and District league. Kellett is also a former Tiger and comes back after playing for Geelong Amateurs in the Bellarine league last year.
SEYMOUR
The Lions have added two players in the off-season with Tom O’Sullivan and Nathan Fowler joining. O’Sullivan will play for the club when he isn’t playing for North Melbourne in the VFL and comes from the Calder Cannons. He is the brother of 2021 Morrison Medallist Jack O’Sullivan. Fowler joins from Wallan in the Riddell District league and is the third signing from the club after also securing 2021 Bowen Medallist Ricky Schraven and Will Brock.
SHEPPARTON BEARS
The Bears have added three players to their squad during the off-season with the biggest signing so far being former Murray Bushranger Jhett Cooper. Cooper comes to the club after kicking 35 goals last season for Tungamah in the Picola and District league. He is joined by Izac Artavilla and Lewis McShane who have signed from the Murray league after playing for Cobram last season.
SHEPPARTON SWANS
The club has added no new signings since adding the three former North Melbourne Kangaroos players Jamie MacMillan, Nathan Hrovat and Sam Wright last year.
SHEPPARTON UNITED
The Demons have been busy in the off-season, making multiple moves at the club. The biggest is the signing of Jye Chalcraft who won Geelong’s VFL best-and-fairest last season. He’ll play for the club when he does not have VFL requirements. The club has also signed Zak Wikman, Hayden Gray and Tristan Salau this season with Wikman coming from Tallygaroopna and Gray and Salau coming from Rushworth. United has also added Adam Schenk who comes from Sale City after moving to the area and Fergus Pinnuck who comes back to the club after playing in the VAFA. The club has also added Marcus Waite and Jayden Magro, who is a former East Perth player in the WAFL, with both playing for Waratah in the NTFL this year. The signings come on top of the players they added after new coach Duane Hueston joined them.
TATURA
The Bulldogs have looked north to add playing talent to their team for this season. The club has signed Daniel Weetra and Harley McCarthy with both players coming from the Northern Territory. Weetra signs after playing for Wanderers this year in the NTFL while also playing in Cairns and for Rupanyup in the Horsham District league. McCarthy joins after playing for the Tiwi Bombers in the NTFL. The duo join other signings at the club announced when Paul Barnard took over in October last year.
