Firefighters are battling a scrub fire burning out-of-control north of the Shepparton and Mooroopna causeway.
A CFA spokesman said units responded to reports of smoke about 12.30pm near the Midland Highway in Mooroopna on Tuesday.
“Five CFA units from multiple local brigades attended the scene alongside FRV and FFMVic,” he said.
“Upon arrival, crews found an active grass and scrub fire approximately 100m by 100m in size, burning north of the Causeway.
“Air attack support has been requested to assist ground crews.”
An advice message was issued for residents in Shepparton, Mooroopna and Kialla urging people to remain informed.
The fire is generating smoke which may be visible.
