There’s a new leading runscorer in Cricket Shepparton this season.

Mooroopna’s Paul McDonald, who plays in B Grade, has shot to the top of the standings with 339 runs from five innings after a dominant display against Euroa at the weekend.

McDonald hit a stunning 149 runs from 123 balls to record the highest score of any player across all grades in the competition this season.

He finished his afternoon with 21 boundaries and three sixes before being run-out on the second last ball of the innings.

The Goulburn Valley News has crunched the numbers across all grades of the competition to find out who is standing out above the rest of the competition.

Kyabram’s C Grade star Ross Brown is the only other brother to have passed the 300 mark having scored 302 runs this season with a high score of 98.

Cross-code star Kyle Mueller has been the best batter in A grade having score 283 runs from five outings.

Karramomus’ Zayd Gibson is the best junior runscorer of the season so far with 172 runs from four innings boosting him to an average of 67.1.

Meanwhile, Old Students’ Jayden Gagliardi leads the way with the most 6s this season with 14.

Brown and Mooroopna’s Daniel Hatton (E Grade) are next best on 11.

Central Park-St Brendans’ Rhiley Lau and Pine Lodges’ Brayden Kearns are the only other players in double figures.

Kearns has also been dominant with the ball leading the way with 14 wickets with a stunning average of 6.57.

Blake Armstrong (Tatura, A Grade), Thomas Magee (Northerners, B Grade) and Rick Heathcote (Undera Lions, C Grade) sit only one wicket behind the Pine Lodge man.

The best figures of the season belong to Conor Hangan who has took 7/15.

Lachlan Mawson from Northeners has taken the most wickets of any junior player.

Central Park-St Brendans sit at the top of the A Grade ladder with five wins from five games.
