A Euroa netballer killed in a car crash has been remembered as the “life of the party” with a “bubbly personality”.
Cassie Rawlings, 18, was travelling along Longwood-Pranjip Rd at Pranjip on November 2 when she crashed into a tree.
Daughter to Jason and Julianne Rawlings and sister to Zach, Ms Rawlings had a “bubbly, life of the party personality”, auntie Charlene Cullen said.
“She would light up any room she walked into,” Ms Cullen said.
Ms Rawlings attended primary school in Euroa before spending her secondary schooling at FCJ College Benalla and Euroa Secondary College.
She was studying a child care diploma while she worked at the Puckapunyal army base.
“She loved working with children … she loved her job, and was loving life,” Ms Cullen said.
A keen netballer with the Longwood Football Netball Club, Ms Rawlings had also begun a career in coaching the under-11s mixed team.
Ms Cullen said the 18-year-old “was really looking forward” to coaching the team again.
But netball wasn’t Ms Rawlings only sporting interest. While she may have been a North Melbourne supporter, she also enjoyed heading to Saints games with brother Zach.
Dad Jason said on social media he was “destroyed” by her death and would love her forever.
The Kyabram Football Netball League will open up the Longwood clubhouse this evening for the community to gather and remember the teen.
A funeral date has not yet been decided.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has footage, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a form online.
There have been 238 lives lost in Victorian roads in 2024, down from 239 at the same stage last year.
The Euroa community has joined together, raising more than $13,000 for Ms Rawlings family through GoFundMe.
