Court: Cobram man Stephen Pinner charged with 11 counts of rape

A Cobram woman told an accused rapist “you’ve got to stop, you’ve got to stop” before he allegedly proceeded to rape her.

Cobram man Stephen Pinner is charged with 11 counts of rape.

An accused Cobram rapist allegedly told a woman “you know you’re just a whore” before he allegedly raped her.

Stephen William Pinner, 57, is standing trial in Shepparton County Court charged with 11 counts of rape.

The 11 rape charges allegedly occurred over four separate incidents.

Mr Pinner allegedly raped the woman between April 1, 2022 and August 13, 2022.

The woman reported the alleged rapes to Cobram police on August 15, 2022.

Mr Pinner, formerly of Dhurringile, was arrested by police the following day and gave a recorded interview, before he was released on summons.

In one instance, it is alleged Mr Pinner told the woman “you know you’re just a whore” before he allegedly raped her.

In another instance, Mr Pinner was told by the alleged victim to “you’ve got to stop, you’ve got to stop”, before he allegedly raped her.

Mr Pinner, originally from Tasmania, has lived in Cobram for 10 years.

Court documents reveal he was “camping by the river” at the time of his arrest and had no fixed address.

The trial will resume tomorrow.
