Coroner John Olle appeals for witnesses on anniversary of teenager Jodus Murphy’s disappearance
For a year, loved ones and police have been trying to piece together how a popular teens’s body was found on a river bank in the state’s north. Now public help is needed.

A coroner is appealing for anyone who can help solve the mystery of how a teenager’s body ended up on the banks of a river in the state’s north.
Jodus Murphy, 18, was last seen alive a year ago on May 15 between 7.30am and 9am in Seymour.
A police investigation into Jodus’ disappearance and subsequent death found he had left his home address in Seaford on May 12.
Two days later, Jodus was captured on CCTV at the Seymour railway, where he asked two men what time the next train to Murchison was.
It is understood Jodus spent the night of May 14 at the home of a woman and her teenage son after he approached them in town at Seymour, where he was given methamphetamines and xanax.
The next morning, Jodus left that address and was seen by three unrelated witnesse in the vicinity of Abdallah Rd, Tarcombe Rd, Kennedy Court and surrounding streets in Seymour.
Those sightings of the Seaford teen are the last of him while he was alive.
On May 17, two cash withdrawals were made from a Seymour ATM from Jodus’ bank account by a mystery man.
Jodus’ body was found on the banks of the Goulburn River just under a month later on June 14.
Jodus’ funeral was held on June 30 last year, where he was remembered as an ambitious and remarkable young man.
