Christopher Simon Hare charged with sexually assaulting teenager

A man has been accused of sexually assaulting a teenager numerous times in the Moira Shire, a court has heard.

A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenager multiple times across the Moira Shire, a court has heard.

Christopher Simon Hare, 51, fronted the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on November 26 for a committal mention charged with 16 alleged sexual offences.

It is alleged Mr Hare, who lives in Doreen, sexually assaulted and sexually touched a child on multiple occasions.

In multiple instances, police will allege that Mr Hare inserted his penis into the alleged victim’s mouth.

Mr Hare, who was charged by Wangaratta Sexual Abuse and Child Investigation detectives on June 21, was supported in court by family members.

The court heard that Mr Hare’s alleged offending had brought about a lot of “rumours and innuendo” since being charged by police.

Mr Hare, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, was directed to stand trial in the County Court by Magistrate Simon Zebrowski.

He will face a directions hearing on January 23 at 9am.
