Dylan Norman, 23, fronted the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after he was allegedly driving while disqualified in August when police say he hit 16-year-old Caleb Puttyfoot.

Caleb was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital from the Benalla crash site on Bridge St West with life-threatening injuries, including brain damage.

He died nine days later.

The teenager was remembered at a moving funeral service in Benalla in September.

Mr Norman, who appeared in court via video link, is currently on bail and has to report to the Benalla police station each Friday.

He previously played football for Goorambat and the Benalla All Blacks.

The defence for Mr Norman requested a four week adjournment in the matter.

Magistrate David Faram adjourned the matter to February 13, 2024 and extended the former footballer’s bail.
