Alleged killer triumvirate to face trial for murder of Charlie Gander

The three people charged with murdering a young Wangaratta man whose body was found in a burnt out car intend to face Supreme Court.

The three people charged with the murder of a Wangaratta man whose body was found in a burnt out car on Christmas Eve all intend to plead not guilty at the Supreme Court.

Danny Clarke, 39, Kylie Anne Stott, 38, both of Shepparton and Mooroopna’s Dimitri D’Elio, 25, are charged with murdering 19-year-old Charlie Gander.

Mr Clarke, Mr D’Elio and Ms Stott all appeared via video link while on remand.

When Magistrate Marisa Altman asked the three co-accused how they intended to plead, they all responded “not guilty”.

Gander’s body was found on December 24, 2022 after firefighters were called to a car fire at Bunbartha.

After the fire was extinguished, emergency services found the body of Mr Gander inside the vehicle.

The three were charged with murder on December 30, 2022 as well as

arson.

They were remanded in custody until December 1, where they will face a directions hearing at the Supreme Court.

From there, a trial date will be set to be heard in the Supreme Court.
