A 17-year-old has been charged with two offences following an alleged stabbing in Benalla at the weekend.
Police allege two males known to each other were travelling in a car when one of the males stabbed the other around 11.40pm on March 22.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the 18-year-old alleged victim exited the car on Waller St and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“It is alleged the offender drove on to Violet Town where he crashed the car and stole a passing motorist’s vehicle,’’ the spokeswoman said.
“It is alleged he drove that car a short distance before dumping the vehicle and running off.”
The spokeswoman said police arrived a short time later and arrested the driver.
“He has been charged with aggravated carjacking and intentionally cause injury, and was remanded to appear in a children’s court at a later date,” she said.
