A baby was left “drowsy” with bruising “all over” after a car crash at a Broadmeadows family care centre.

Police confirmed four people, including an 11-month-old baby, were injured when a car crashed through the front glass window of the Central Grove and Camp Rd centre in Broadmeadows just before 9am.

The child, who was inside the building at the time, was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital. Two adults were also taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital while the female driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Family members of the victims said they weren’t sure of the condition of those in hospital.

“We’re not sure… they didn’t look too good,” a family member said.

“The baby was in shock, she didn’t even cry when it happened… she was drowsy and had bruising all over.”

Ambulance Victoria confirmed all four patients were in a stable condition.

Zainab Shallal, a worker at a neighbouring business, pulled a woman and her young granddaughter from the crash.

“[She] had blood all over her face… there was debris and glass all on top of her,” Ms Shallal said.

They are all employees or relatives of employees at the family care centre, the Herald Sun has been told.

Police believe the female driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle and an employee at the centre, was trying to park her car at the centre before crashing through the front window.

Ms Zainab said the driver claimed she accidentally pressed on the accelerator instead of the brake.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
