We have found the egg hunts to make festivities special for little kids and adults this Easter. Read our guide to find the best events near you.

The countdown is on to the most egg-citing weekend on the Victorian calendar, when families across the state will fan out to take advantage of festivities over the long weekend.

Each region has a slightly different take on Easter celebrations, from Bendigo’s Chinese dragon parade through the streets of the CBD, to Mildura’s egg hunt on horseback.

We have rounded up the highlights from our regions and metro areas to show you where to find your nearest egg hunt event.

Rosalind Park, Bendigo

This event is arguably the most intense on the Victorian egg hunting calendar, as it packs 21 hunts into a single day.

The Vision Australia egg hunt is an important fundraising event for blind and low-vision residents living in central Victoria.

It is held on Good Friday and this year, an extra hunt has been added specifically for children with special needs.

It will have fewer participants and be held at 9.40am before the park becomes too busy.

The organisation will hide 85,000 eggs in piles of wood wool. The hunts are organised for separate age groups over various time slots throughout each day.

SES volunteers help keep the egg supply up throughout the event by throwing in extras to keep the excitement up.

Adorable puppies in training to become seeing eye dogs will also be there, to encourage participants to enjoy themselves.

Tickets are $13 and are available online and at the Bendigo Visitor Centre.

Luna Park, St Kilda

The fun park will transform its garden terrace area into a hunting wonderland, with 30,000 big and small chocolate eggs from Chocolatier hidden in mounds of hay.

There will be no need to bring a basket, as each hunter will be given a cup at the entrance to store as many eggs as they can collect during their timed slot.

Each hunt will be held for a “mad minute” led by the Luna Park’s resident “Mad as Mad Hatter” and then the course will be re-set by a bunny brigade.
