WORK on Bunnings Doncaster is set to start within weeks as the homewares giant finalises a contract to build a mega hardware and apartment complex next to Westfield.
Leader believes the building contract is likely to be finalised and signed off on within a matter of weeks.

The $73m development will include 250 apartments — 99 flats on top of the 11,000sq m multi-level store as well as two apartment towers. There will be 350 car spaces for shoppers.
Leader reported last year the hardware plans were finally moving forward after a war of words between Bunnings and Westfield prevented Manningham Council from being able to sign off on permits.
Initially the Bunnings development threatened to become a legal battle between the retail giants, with Westfield concerned it would affect future growth of its massive Doncaster complex after announcing a $500 million expansion.
Andrew Marks, the property manager for Bunnings, said last week they expected work to start in due course.
“We are currently in the process of appointing a builder for the development,” he said.
“The timing of the project has not been finalised at this stage and we will continue to update the local community as soon as timings are known.
“We are looking forward to providing the local community with the latest home improvement and outdoor living products and best service.”
The project will create 600 jobs, with about 200 jobs on offer after the store opens.
Bunnings first announced the plans back in 2013.
