Whitehorse’s best pizza: T17 Box Hill North named best pizza in Whitehorse

There’s a little slice of Italy tucked away in a quiet Box Hill North street, and pizza fans can’t get enough.

The team from T17 Pizza, voted the best pizza restaurant in Whitehorse.

It may be tucked away in a quiet Box Hill North street, but the reviews are loud and clear when it comes to T17 Pizza – it’s a huge hit.

The pizzeria came out on top in Leader’s poll to find the best pizza in Whitehorse, following nominations from readers.

Owner Jimmy Kamarotlis said it was overwhelming to get recognition from the public.

“Especially because where we are, we’re in a back street away from everyone, so out of sight, out of mind,” he said.

“So the fact that our customers are nice enough to vote for us, it’s really cool, and overwhelming to be recognised.”

Mr Kamarotlis said the skills of his Italian chefs Luca and Valerio were crucial to the restaurant’s success.

“Without them it wouldn’t be as good as it is,” he said.

“The guys have got a lot of skill.”

Mr Kamarotlis said the business imports the majority of its “high quality” ingredients from Italy.

“We go for high end ingredients; we do get a lot of Italian hams, salamis … ingredients that most shops wouldn’t get,” he said.

Mr Kamarotlis said the T17 special, including san daniele prosciutto, mushrooms and homemade truffle cream, was among the most popular items on the menu.

T17 is at 17 Trawool St, Box Hill North.
