Waverley Park Mulgrave: Final homes sold in Mirvac estate

Thousands of fans used to trek to VFL Park to watch the footy, but two decades on, the transformation of the site is almost complete.

There’s just one remaining home up for grabs at Mirvac’s Waverley Park development, after buyers jumped at the chance to live in the estate.

Mirvac recently revealed the final release of homes at its $785 million masterplanned community in Mulgrave, with a $945,000 three-bedroom, two-bathroom home the final property up for sale.

The final five lake and park front homes sold will join the 80ha community of more than 1274 homes and mark a milestone for Waverley Park, which launched in 2002.

Mirvac head of residential Stuart Penklis said the final release of homes was a historic milestone for the vibrant community.

“For nearly two decades Mirvac has been dedicated to reimagining urban life at the former VFL Park,” he said.

“Over the years we have welcomed new residents and delivered an abundance of amenity including the refurbished stadium as a state-of-the-art headquarters for the Hawthorn Football Club, and a local shopping hub at the base of the original Sir Kenneth Luke Stand including the renowned Goodlife Health Club and popular cafe, The Last Piece.

“The final release follows the sales success of Stage 14 and 15 at Waverley Park, with demand continuing during 2020 despite the pandemic.

“Many of these sales have been repeat purchasers within Waverley Park, keen to secure one of the few prime park and lake front homes, demonstrating ongoing market appetite for housing by quality developers in sought-after suburban locations.”

Jeremy Lee and his partner recently bought a four-bedroom townhouse in the estate.

“I actually live in Mulgrave at the moment so I know it is a good centralised area to everything that we need – shopping centres, the city, and freeways, so it’s good for work,” he said.

“And with Waverley Park, we were quite attracted to the park and lakeside area in front of the house, that will make it very easy to exercise.”

The couple are hoping to move in by the middle of next year.

All of the final homes sold are close to the 6.8ha Finale Park, set to be one of the largest parks in Monash.

The park already includes an existing 1.4ha entry precinct park on Jacksons Rd, with all other elements due to be completed this month, including the lake, wetlands and play space.
