Two unlicensed young drivers, who were both allegedly boozed up and driving alone, have been involved in separate crashes in Whitehorse.

An 18-year-old driver was taken to Box Hill Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after she crashed into a barrier on the Eastern Freeway in Blackburn North about 10.45pm on Sunday, June 16.

Nunawading highway patrol Sergeant Simon Webb said the unlicensed Boronia woman had been driving a Toyota Hiace “at high speed” when she lost control of the car and hit a barrier in the centre of the freeway.

Sgt Webb said the driver was allegedly found to be under the influence of illicit drugs and blew a reading of almost twice the legal blood alcohol limit for a fully licenced driver when she was tested at the scene.
