THERE is a new Clayton hotel bringing inner city food and entertainment culture to the ‘burbs.
After 20 months, The Clayton Hotel is finally opened for business to hungry diners and those wanting to kick back in the sports bar after a hard day’s work.
Owner operator Frank Golotta said the transformation from the L’Unico Hotel had been a labour of love to realise a dream he and his late father Antonio Golotta had shared.
Mr Golotta originally bought the Clayton Rd restaurant in the early 1990s, applied for a gaming licence in 1997 and said “organically it grew into a hotel”.
But the duo sold it in 2000 and in 2008 when it came back on the market, Mr Golotta snapped it up to make their vision of turning it into a vibrant hotel a reality — and now includes a bistro, sports bar, and a function room.
“He would be very proud. it would have exceeded his expectations and a lot of this was for him,” Mr Golotta said.
“We exceeded the budget spend, we didn’t want to cut corners and do the job properly.”
Mr Golotta said he hoped Clayton residents would be happy to call it their new local.
“We’ve got quality foods and pub favourites,” he said.
“It’s the inner city in the ‘burbs.”
