A Box Hill high-rise hotel has been evacuated after a large water pipe burst and flooded rooms on as many as 18 floors.
Firefighters responded to a rupture in a large water pipe on the 18th floor at The Chen hotel at Whitehorse Towers on Whitehorse Rd about 9.40am.
Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman Ross Duncan said five crews helped cut power to the building and quickly stopped the pipe leak from causing widespread water damage.
Guests from the 18th floor to the ground floor were impacted by the flooding and evacuated from their rooms.
A Chen staff member did not say how many guests were affected when contacted by Leader.
Firefighters and police are assisting hotel staff with the clean-up and repairs.
Mr Duncan said guests on levels two to 10 would be allowed back into their rooms in the next few hours, while those on levels 11 to 18 could be waiting until 5pm to return.
