The leader of an Australian civil rights organisation has condemned the appearance of offensive, anti-Semitic graffiti including swastikas in Monash.
Two spray-painted items recently appeared in Oakleigh and Hughesdale, with one depicting the swastika and another saying ‘no more Jews’.
Anti-Defamation Commission chairman Dr Dvir Abramovich said he was outraged by the “revolting and degrading” graffiti.

“I understand why some members of the Jewish community feel under siege,” Dr Abramovich said.
“It seems that not a day goes by without the defacing of public or private property, either with obscene swastikas, sickening vilification, or genocidal threats directed against the Jewish community.
“We cannot allow this stain on our society to become the new normal in our city.”
Dr Abramovich said the cowardly acts of anti-Semitic vandalism across Melbourne in the past year was a reminder there were individuals with “burning hatred” in their hearts walking the streets who sought to intimidate and deny the Jewish community its dignity.
“These troubling attacks are an assault on all people of faith and violate Australia’s core values,” Dr Abramovich said.
“They should be treated very seriously by the police and government, and we implore all leaders to stand with us, shoulder to shoulder in forcefully denouncing this climate of intolerance and bias-motivated crimes.”
