Suspicious car explosion rocks Mount Waverley street

A car explosion has rocked a Mount Waverley street this morning, with the blaze being treated as suspicious.

A car explosion which rocked a suburban street in southeast Melbourne this morning is being treated as suspicious.

A loud bang could be heard as the car was engulfed in flames and smoke billowed into the air on Heany St, near Waverley Rd in Mount Waverley, about 7.15am.

Sirens could also be heard as two fire trucks rushed to the scene to control the blaze.

“It was fully involved, we sent crews and they have deemed it suspicious so police have been called,” a Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesperson said.
