An accused sexual offender threatened to derail his alleged victim’s sporting career unless they took part in sexual acts, court documents allege.

Dressed in a black suit, Ferntree Gully businessman Steven Pullen, 38, appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for committal mention over a series of alleged sexual related offences.

According to court documents released to the Herald Sun, Mr Pullen has been charged with a series of alleged sexual and child abuse offences between May 2003 and September 2008.

One charge alleges between January 2004 and December 2005 Mr Pullen procured a victim to “take part in an act of sexual penetration, namely by threatening to stop (the victim’s) sporting career”.

He has also been charged with rape between September 2007 and September 2008 and allegedly threatening to “show others photographs of a (victim’s) genitals” unless they “take part in an act of sexual penetration”.

Court documents revealed he was also accused of exposing his genitals to children, touching a child’s penis and sexual penetration with a child under 16.

Mr Pullen was granted leave to cross examine eight witnesses at a three day contested committal hearing later this year in relation to the alleged offending.

The court previously heard he operated a business which required him to work with international partners.

He was remanded on bail to reappear before the court on October 8.
