A Mount Waverley man has died after he suffered a medical episode while driving in Box Hill, despite desperate attempts to save him.

A Mount Waverley man has died after he suffered a medical episode while behind the wheel in Box Hill.
Nunawading highway patrol Acting Sergeant Andrew Hope said the incident happened while the 65-year-old was driving along Station St near Landale St at 3.40pm on October 3.
The man’s white Suburu station wagon suddenly mounted a kerb and bystanders rushed to his help him and called emergency services.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and performed CPR but were unable to revive the man, who died at the scene.
He was the only person inside the car and no one else was injured in the incident.
Acting Sgt Hope said officers suspected the man could have suffered a stroke or a heart attack and the matter had been referred to the Coroner.
Meanwhile, a Pascoe Vale man is set to face court after he crashed a car into a power pole in Blackburn while allegedly affected by drugs.
Acting Sgt Hope said the incident happened at the intersection of The Avenue and Laurel Grove at 9.40am on October 6.
The 45-year-old man was driving a white Toyota HiLux when it suddenly collided with the pole.
No one was injured in the crash and the man’s car was towed away.
Acting Sgt Hope said the man was allegedly driving while suspended and officers allegedly detected drugs in his system following a test after the crash.
He said the man was interviewed by officers and later released pending summons.
