Springvale Rd Nunawading: Suspicious fire engulfs home, destroys two cars
A woman has escaped uninjured after fire ripped through a home on a busy road in Nunawading, which also led to neighbours being evacuated.

A house has been severely damaged and two cars destroyed following a fire in Nunawading, which police are treating as suspicious.
Emergency services were called to the blaze on Springvale Rd about 1.30am.
The cars were on fire when firefighters arrived, and the fire then spread to the carport.
Ten Fire Rescue Victoria units and more than 30 firefighters battled the blaze, which was brought under control 40 minutes later.
The owner of the house, believed to be a woman in her 30s, escaped uninsured.
Nearby resident Sue, who didn’t give her surname, said she was woken up by a loud bang and thought a truck had crashed into the house.
“It was ridiculous … there was a bang, another bang and two quick pops.
“You could see the flames coming up over the top of everything.”
