Ten years after playing in a premiership at Berwick, paceman Andrew Perrin is back with the Bears.

On Tuesday Perrin informed Prahran he would be leaving Premier Cricket.

Today Berwick announced its 2011-2012 Turf 1 premiership star would be returning, “just in time for the 10-year reunion!’’

“Pez’ will be a massive inclusion to our pace attack over the next two seasons and will bring with him a wealth of knowledge and experience gained over his Premier and Sheffield Shield career,’’ the club said.

“The only thing we love more than seeing Bears achieve higher honours is seeing them come back to the greatest joint in the world.’’

Last month, amid great emotion, the right-armer had helped the True Blues to their first flag in almost 40 years, taking 2-42 in the grand final against Dandenong at the Junction Oval.

In a message to his teammates Perrin said he had never enjoyed his cricket as much as he did at Prahran.

He said the premiership was “one of my proudest moments on the field’’.

Perrin’s career took in stops at four Premier clubs as well as a stint in Tasmania that elevated him to Shield cricket.

He made his Premier debut for Dandenong in 2008-09, bowling with James Pattinson, Paul Boraston, James Nanopoulos and David Newman.

It was his only match for the Panthers.

He went home, then transferred to Casey South Melbourne in 2010-11, where he played 45 matches and in 2012-13 grabbed 34 wickets to announce himself as a face-bowling prospect.

In 2014-15 he crossed to Fitzroy-Doncaster, taking 34 wickets.

A season later he captured 50 wickets at 10.6, with Trent Lawford forming a formidable new-ball attack for the Lions. They won the grand final, routing Ringwood in a match remembered for Peter Dickson’s hand of 226 retired.

Tasmania came calling with a contract. He made the move and played three Shield matches in two years, his debut coming against Queensland. He took 3-84 in the first innings and 2-18 in the second.

Perrin returned to Fitzroy-Doncaster in 2018-19 then crossed to Prahran, bringing a swinging edge to its attack.

He claimed 29 wickets in 2019-20 and 22 from 13 matches last season.

The True Blues will look to cover Perrin’s departure with the recruitment of Bailey Moon, who has transferred from Richmond.
